Our History
Geraldine Funeral Services has been dedicated to serving families in South Canterbury since the early 1900s. The business was founded by Teddie Sprouting, who originally operated it as both a building service and an undertaking firm. Following Teddie, Mark Weaver took the helm, succeeded by Bob Geddes, and then Gavin Rooney. In 2003, Eion McKinnon and his wife, Lois, acquired the company.
In 2025, Betts Funeral Services, located in the neighbouring town of Timaru and owned by Julian Donaldson and Mitch Ireton, purchased Geraldine Funeral Services. Craig Wilson has been the recognisable face of Geraldine Funeral Services since 2019, and continues to manage and expertly run the company, along with the team at Betts.
